Safeguarding Education Sessions
The Catholic Church in New Zealand is committed to the safeguarding of those in its care and creating safe places for Church life and ministry.
As part of this commitment, the bishops and congregational leaders released, in 2017, a set of guidelines. The guidelines include the need for training on safeguarding practices for who those involved in ministry with children, young people, and adults who are vulnerable.
This would include all those who lead children’s liturgy, catechism/sacramental preparation classes, youth groups, parish visits, St Vincent de Paul, Legion of Mary, Extraordinary Eucharistic Ministers to the sick.
The diocese is starting the process of holding training session and the expectation is that all those involved in the respective ministries attend.
The details of the first training session for our region are:
Wednesday 11th September at 7pm in the St Josephs Hall.
